Memphis Grizzlies Bring Youth Camp to Hot Springs on September 6
The Memphis Grizzlies are bringing their youth camp to Hot Springs, Arkansas, on September 6, as part of their 10-stop tour across four states. The free camp is open to boys and girls ages 6-14, and registration is required to attend.
The Grizzlies have partnered with National Park College to host the camp at The Kettle, the college's gym. The junior Grizzlies staff will be running the camp, and some members of the Grizzlies roster may also attend. However, no players have been confirmed at this time.
What Happens at the Camp?
The camp will feature skills and drills with the Grizzlies staff and potentially players as well. Participants will also have the opportunity to play in games and contests, win prizes, and receive Grizzlies gear for attending the camp. Families can also sign up for a Weekend in Memphis giveaway, which includes amenities around town, tickets to local attractions in Memphis, tickets to a Grizzlies game, and Grizzlies gear.
Why it Matters for Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies are built on a lot of the same values as National Park College, including grit, grind, and coming together to help the community reach new heights. The partnership between the Grizzlies and National Park College is a huge opportunity for the community to grow stronger.
What Comes Next?
The Grizzlies will be handling the majority of responsibilities of running the camp, but the youth who sign up will see facilities at National Park College and meet a few Nighthawks while they're there. This camp is a way for the college to build and strengthen a pipeline from the youth of Garland County to NPC. The Nighthawks are hoping this camp can grow into a partnership between the college and the Grizzlies where the community can grow stronger because of it.
The camp is part of a larger effort by Hot Springs Park and Recreation to bring youth basketball city leagues back to the courts of Hot Springs. This clinic is the first step in gauging interest in the community and trying to build momentum towards being able to offer these types of opportunities to the youth of Garland County and the surrounding areas.
